Coffee Talk

Hey Everyone!

This is a little later, but a “Coffee Talk” all the same.

This is there first time I have been at my desk for more than 2 minutes all morning. I’m super glad it is Friday!

Tomorrow we go back to my wife’s home town. We have made our appointment with the lady at the modular home company. We will meet with her and do a walk through as well as explore our other options with them. I was able to talk with my co-worker who also got a home from the same area, although it was 10 years ago. I think the rates are very similar still. He got a 2 story house for around $118,000 and had his own basement done for another $50,000. We had a single story ranch priced with a full basement for around $169,000. It is over our price point I think, for what we want but the rates seem to even out a bit. We will just have to wait and see. We need to not get ahead of ourselves as we still have to speak with her grandparents about the whole thing.

Like I mentioned I have been busy all morning and hope I can have some down time the rest of the day. Fingers crossed haha. Not necessarily “down” time but slower requests.

The depressing part of my day is realizing that my student loan payments come out today. 😦 It is tough to see $700 disappear in an instant haha. This also reminds me of my Children International sponsor child Abel! My auto payment for that comes out the same day as my student loans. I am still waiting on a response to the food and gift I sent for him and his family. His birthday is January 9th, so I sent his family some traditional food items, and I bought him a soccer ball and some orange Fanta. I guess that is huge over there. They, from what I hear, send pictures when the family comes and gets the items at the local town center. I am patiently waiting to see his face again. 😀

That is about it. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I’ll try to do the same. I’ll see you all again Monday with an update on the weekend! 😀 😀

  1. The soccer ball will be a hit with Abel. Where does he live? My son did his dissertation at university on soccer ( football) in Ghana and met lots of young people who played in youth clubs there. The play anywhere and he said one field he went to they were really fast runners as if they did not get the ball before it went to the end of the field it went into an open sewer! He said all the kids love to have a ball and will play anywhere they can. Good luck with the house hunting.

    1. His mother said in their last letter that he loved the sport so I hope it is a great surprise for him!

He is in Lusaka, Zambia. I know they are obviously not well off financially, so I hope it will be a great surprise for him.

Thank you for the comment! 😀 😀

  2. He will love the soccer ball, both my children played on a soccer team when they were young. Student loan payments are never fun until the last payment is complete, LOL!

  3. The modular home place may have other ways to help you get something nice and still stay on point.

I feel your pain about having the money come out of your account. We are in the process of buying flooring for our home and there was a pretty large chunk of change deducted from our account just today!

Can’t wait to hear about Able when he receives his gifts.
